Who we are
It all started when…
Friends of Millstone Township Historic Registered Properties, Friends of MTHRP for short, is a 501C3 non-profit organization dedicated to furthering public interest in conservation, preservation, knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the history of Millstone Township.
On October 15, 2012 the Friends of MTHRP hit the ground running…and haven’t looked back since! This was the day the TBH closed and the Friends became its caretakers. The Friends rallied the community and jumped in with both feet to improve the Baird Homestead and began to ready it for visitors, community education and school programs. The TBH is an early 19th century home owned by Millstone Township and financially supported solely through fundraising by the Friends group that has grown to include many generations of supporters.
Our first seven years have been packed with excitement, unimagined growth, trials and dedication to our vision. Credit for our successes must go to our hardworking dedicated trustees, volunteers, tenacious planning, and completion of tasks and the ability to leverage our funds to achieve maximum effect.
Our top goals for 2026-2027 are:
To host events to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of America
To grow our volunteer base significantly
To publish two chapter books telling local historic stories
To construct a new barn to add activity center space and display/storage capacity at the Thomas Baird Homestead
To complete the restoration of the ten stained-glass windows at the Clarksburg Methodist Episcopal Church
To increase our fundraising/grant award capacity by 10%
To increase our institutional financial stability by creating a Cash Reserve/Working Capital account
